City of Santa Fe Launches Warpath Avenue Reconstruction Project

Santa Fe, Texas – The City of Santa Fe is proud to announce the commencement of the Warpath Avenue Reconstruction Project, a transformative initiative to improve the City’s only municipally-owned commercial street. This project is fully funded by the Santa Fe Economic Development Corporation (SFEDC) at an estimated cost of $1.2 million.

Project Overview

  • What: Reconstruction of Warpath Avenue
  • When: The 104-day project began on June 4, 2025, with substantial completion within 90 days. The road is slated to reopen before the start of the school year on August 12, 2025, with minor punch-list items addressed thereafter.
  • Where: Warpath Avenue, from Highway 6 to 6th Street.
  • Why: The new cement construction will ensure a lifespan of several decades for this heavily-traveled road, reducing long-term maintenance costs.
  • How: TECA Construction, LLC will lead the project, under the oversight of MBCO Engineering and the City of Santa Fe Street Department.

Collaboration and Impact

The Santa Fe Independent School District (SFISD) has been a key partner, facilitating communications and coordinating detours to maintain access to ISD-owned facilities. Additionally, local businesses, including HEB, Whataburger, and PNC Bank, have been active participants in pre-construction planning. Customer access to these businesses will be maintained throughout the project via two Highway 6 ingress/egress points to the shared parking lot, minimizing disruption.
