Please note that, of course, all work is subject to funding availability, and all timeframes are proposed or expected. Additionally, the City may need to make changes to any planned list due to unforeseen circumstances.

City of SF Launches Warpath Avenue Reconstruction Project
Santa Fe, Texas – The City of Santa Fe is proud to announce the commencement of the Warpath Avenue Reconstruction Project, a transformative initiative to improve the City’s only municipally-owned commercial street. This project is fully funded by the Santa Fe Economic Development Corporation (SFEDC) at an estimated cost of $1.2 million.
Project Overview
- What: Reconstruction of Warpath Avenue
- When: The 104-day project began on June 4, 2025, with substantial completion within 90 days. The road is slated to reopen before the start of the school year on August 12, 2025, with minor punch-list items addressed thereafter.
- Where: Warpath Avenue, from Highway 6 to 6th Street.
- Why: The current asphalt road is in disrepair. The new cement construction will ensure a lifespan of several decades, reducing long-term maintenance costs.
- How: TECA Construction, LLC will lead the project, under the oversight of MBCO Engineering and the City of Santa Fe Street Department.
Collaboration and Impact
The Santa Fe Independent School District (SFISD) has been a key partner, facilitating communications and coordinating detours to maintain access to ISD-owned facilities. Additionally, local businesses, including HEB, Whataburger, and PNC Bank, have been active participants in pre-construction planning. Customer access to these businesses will be maintained throughout the project via two Highway 6 ingress/egress points to the shared parking lot, minimizing disruption.
Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Grant-Funded Repaving Projects
June 11, 2025:
The street reconstruction portion of the MIT-MOD repaving project has been completed, as well as the replanting of grass along the streets.
A walk-through will be scheduled soon and several minor repairs will be scheduled.
The following streets have been reconstructed through a grant provided to the City of Santa Fe by the Texas General Land Office:
- 12th Street (Avenue L to North Main Street) - 1,300'
- 13th Street (North Main Street to Avenue H) - 1,320'
- 16th Street (North Main Street to Avenue H) - 1,320'
- 17th Street (Western End to Avenue H) - 650'
- 18th Street (Avenue M to South Main Street) - 2,700'
- 21st Street (Avenue L to South Main Street) - 1,300'
- 22nd Street (Avenue M to South Main Street) - 2,500'
- 23rd Street East (Avenue L to South Main Street) - 1,300'
- 23rd Street West (Avenue M to end of West 23rd Street) - 900'
- 24th Street (Avenue M to South Main Street) - 2,400'
- Avenue H (13th Street to Highway 6) - 1,700'
- Avenue K (22nd Street to 25th Street) - 1,400'
- Avenue L (24th Street to 18th Street) - 2,100'
- Avenue M (City Limits to Highway 6) - 4,800'
- Main Street (10th Street to Highway 6) - 2,450'
- Mulberry Street (18th Street to the End of Mulberry Street) - 780'
Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Budgeted Repaving Projects
The following streets have been repaved using funds from the City of Santa Fe's General Fund:
2nd Street (West of FM 646) - 1,550' x 20'
Avenue G ½ (End of 25th Street) - 360' x 16'
Avenue P (South of the Bridge Near 7th Street) - 875' x 18'
