Disaster Declaration Winter Storm Enzo

** Update: Wednesday, January 22, 2025 @ 8:25 a.m.: It is currently 21 degrees and sunny in Santa Fe, Texas! 

Though the temperature today should reach into the upper 40s, black ice is still present on many city streets at this time. Please refrain from driving until it is safe to do so. 

**Update: Tuesday, January 21, 2025 @ 3:09 p.m.: The Santa Fe Street Department is clearing city streets. With temperatures expected to remain well below freezing today and tonight, the potential for ice to form on the roads is still likely. Non-emergency travel is still discouraged.

**Update: Tuesday, January 21, 2025 @ 11:47 a.m.: 

Road conditions in Santa Fe: Patches of ice, especially near and around intersections. Slippery street surfaces overlaid with a slushy layer of sleet and snow. Streets are considered unsafe for travel; however, none have been officially closed at this time. Unnecessary travel is extremely discouraged.

**Update: Tuesday, January 21, 2025 @ 10:03 a.m.: **

**The Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Santa Fe until 6:00 p.m. this evening. Santa Fe has seen sleet and ice, and is currently experiencing snowfall, which is predicted to end around noon today. At 10:03 a.m. the temperature in Santa Fe is 28 degrees with a wind chill of 16 degrees.**

The National Weather Service Houston - Galveston has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Winter Storm Enzo from 6:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2025 through 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2025. 

1" - 3" of snow is predicted Monday night through Tuesday afternoon, with temperatures expected to drop to the 20s Monday night and the teens Tuesday night. 

This will cause extremely dangerous driving conditions, including the possibility of impassible roads for long periods of time. The Street Department will be adding sand to the bridges in town to assist with traction; however, we encourage you to stay off the roads if at all possible. Please make your preparations ahead of this Winter storm. 

On the afternoon of Monday, January 20, 2025, the Street Department applied sand on the bridges in town to assist with traction ahead of the forecasted Winter storm precipitation, and will continue to do so as needed throughout the storm. 


Mayor Noto has issued a Declaration of Disaster ahead of Winter Storm Enzo (please see attached).


CenterPoint Energy has reported that they are executing a cold weather readiness plan, including additional 1,200 mutual aid workers who arrived today, Monday, January 20, 2025, and are ready to support potential restoration efforts.

Monday, January 20, 2025: All City of Santa Fe offices and services will be open regular hours. The Park and Recreation Board Regular Meeting has been cancelled.

Tuesday, January 21, 2025: Non-essential City of Santa Fe offices and buildings (permits, library, court) will be closed. The Joint Meeting of the Planning & Zoning Commission and the Zoning Board of Adjustment has been cancelled.

Wednesday, January 22, 2025: Non-essential City of Santa Fe offices and buildings (permits, library, court) will be closed.  All Municipal Court cases scheduled for this day will be rescheduled. Defendants will be contacted with reschedule date. The Economic Development Corporation Special Meeting has been cancelled. 


Santa Fe ISD will open Santa Fe High School, 16000 Highway 6, Santa Fe, TX, 77517, as a warming station on Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days. 


Ameriwaste trash pickup for Wednesday, January 22, 2025, has been cancelled. There will be double pickup on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Recycling pickup has been suspended for this week and will resume next week.
